Don’t Touch the Cucumber Tray

2018, Artist Workshops Tel Aviv

This paintings is the first one in this body of work using cucumber, cucumber pickles and cucumber flowers as the basic unit to design a Persian Rug. The title of the work is a reference to the Iranian hospitality custom of serving fresh cucumbers to guests, usually next to Alcohol. The cucumber bowl is the source of this oil painting on linen. The name "Don't Touch the Cucumber Tray" is a sentence from the song "Can't Play" by Kiosk, an Iranian rock band. The warning in the title is a personal prohibition which points to cultural codes of behaviour.
